The season begins!

For the past sixteen days the team has been working on designing, prototyping and developing ideas on how we want our robot to operate. After watching the kickoff video as a team we broke into three separate groups with the goal of figuring out what the best ways to score are and what we should prioritize. The groups then came up with possible designs that could score the way we wanted, worked out the geometry and made sketches in CAD. The three different groups were assigned different parts of the robot, group one was tasked with the chassis and the climbing mechanism, group two was the elevator or lift mechanism and three is the intake. They intake group started by making rough prototypes to see if the concept would work, found what didn’t and adjusted the designs accordingly. The elevator group worked on coming up with how the system would operate then used  Meanwhile, the chassis team was busy machining parts for the custom chassis and using the prototype chassis from the preseason to come up with ideas for the competition chassis. The different groups continued for the next couple days testing and prototyping their ideas then producing a CAD model of them. People doing software were busy working on vision and the robot code and the electronics people were busy putting together the new batteries then working the electronics board and the space they would like on the robot for it. Overall the team has been working together to complete a final design for a robot.
