Melrose Rumble

Every year, team 2713 hosts a state qualifier for the First Lego League. The Melrose Rumble, previously the Raiders Rumble, has been run by 2713 mentors and students for over ten years. This event is continually cited by FLL mentors as one of the best events they’ve ever been to. 2022’s Melrose Rumble was an extreme success, and the competition is still growing. We look forward to seeing all of our competitors next year!

We attract 24 amazing teams with students from grades 4-8 from Eastern Massachusetts. They are supported by staff from Red Hawk Robotics, and an amazing set of volunteers from companies, such as Raytheon, Salesforce, and Google  that judge, with the students from Red Hawk Robotics, the cool innovation projects that teams create.

In the MASTERPIECE challenge, that debuted August 1, 2023, FIRST LEGO League teams will imagine and innovate new ways to create and communicate art across the globe. The Red Hawk Robotics team is especially suited to host this given they ran a STEAM workshop at Follow Your Art that let students be inspired by the high school robot to create drawings and sculptures.

This event is supported by a grant from Mass Cultural Council at the convergence of STEAM. Participating teams user science skills to invite new solutions for this world and then present them using media, skits, on stage performances in front of a very large crowd.
